This morning we had the Holiday Concert for students. Congratulations, band and chorus members, you did a fantastic job! This afternoon periods 3 and 4 handed in their biopoems and took their elements quiz. Then we returned to homeroom to work on a Christmas gift craft.

Tomorrow--if we are here!--there will be practice for the grade level concert in the gym. Biopoems will be due for period 2. Period 2 will take their elements quiz after the holiday break. We will announce the date when we return.

Looking Ahead to Next Week--Period 1 will be moving into the Roanoke colony and into Investigation 4 on simple Chemical Reactions. Periods 2, 3, and 4 will be moving into the Plymouth colony and wrapping up Investigation 4. Biopoems for periods 2, 3, and 4 will be due next week. A due date will be set once we have time to peer review and edit in class.

Periods 2, 3, and 4--Get your Jamestown papers signed. Biopoem is due Thursday. Test is Friday. Study your flashcards, "The Search for the Northwest Passage" study guide, "Early European Settlements" study guide, and the high lighted portions of "A Brief History of Jamestown."

Social Studies
In all classes today the students finished their "gift" for the world for the holidays. This activity was based upon the book We Dream of a World... which introduced the students the unequal distribution of the world's natural resources and problems facing our earth. Our fifth graders gave very thoughtful gifts to the world!
Period 1--No homework.
Periods 2, 3, and 4--Do workbook 40 and the study guide. These items will be graded. Both are on the Jamestown colony and are due on Thursday. Don't let them go to the last minute! Do some tonight and some tomorrow.
