September 1, 2008

Our first week of school went very well in our Science and Social Studies classes. Fifth grade showed great enthusiasm and interest in both subjects! In Science we completed our first experiment on Mixtures and Solutions. This week we will participate in two more experiments--one on salt water solutions and another on crystals. We will also begin reading the Science Stories that accompany our new Science series. In Social Studies last week we were introduced to the concepts of democracy, our Constitution, and responsibilities that go along with citizenship. This week we will build on these concepts and be introduced to the three levels of government and primary and secondary sources of history. Please check for blog updates throughout the week and also check your child's assignment tablet for daily assignments.
Have a GREAT week!
